Painting the Concrete

Lest you think I let my daughter go around barefoot wearing shorts in winter, I'll confess I'm pretty late with this post.  It definitely took place when things were greener back in August.  :o)

I love to go outside when it is nice.  For me, "nice" is a very small temperature range but I try to be flexible and take Annique outside when it is a bit above or below "nice." This day, I thought she would have some fun painting the concrete with cornstarch paint.

See, smiling already.

Then she wanted to paint the crack in the concrete.

What happens when I dump it over?

That looks interesting!  I should splash it.

Look at that, blue hands!

The masterpiece:

The artist:

She really loved this activity.  I'll do it again (when it is warmer) with more colors.  I would love to hear what she has to say about painting on concrete.  She can communicate so much better now than six months ago.

Pinterest Cooking

I tell you Pinterest has definitely been helpful with keeping variety in my meal planning.  Here's a list of what I've tried recently.  I took no pictures, but that is what the aforementioned website is especially good about, right?

Roasted Balsamic Sweet Potatoes

Recipe Source

These were wonderful I'll definitely make them again.  I will warn you if you try to make this that you have to boil vinegar and sugar then reduce until the sauce thickens.  Maybe my pan was too small, but this took a long time and made the house smell strongly of balsamic vinegar.

Homemade Nacho Cheese Sauce

Recipe Source

We don't really eat a lot of Cheese Sauce around here.  However, similar to crafting, I like to try things just to see if I can do it.  I can do this!  It was delicious and I might make it again if we have a need for it.

Four Ingredient Peanut Butter Cookies

Ok, I really should have taken a picture of my cookies because they looked sooooo much better than these.  The URL is no longer available, but I'll tell you the recipe because it is so stinkin' simple.  Plus it is gluten-free! Ready? 1 cup peanut butter (I have used both, but prefer crunchy), 1 cup sugar, 1 egg, 1 tablespoon baking soda.  Mix peanut butter and sugar until blended, then add the egg and baking soda.  Bake at 350 for 10 minutes. I added chocolate chips and they turned out awesome!  I also used my scoop to put the dough on the cookie sheet so my cookies had a better shape than these pictured.

DIY Baked Corn Chips

These were good!  The first batch was better than the second for some reason.  I don't have an oil sprayer, so I used my homemade cooking spray instead.  Pure oil would probably be better, but this still worked.

I've made 8 more dishes but I'll stop with these for this post.  Making delicious Pintrerest recipes anyone? I know my friend Trisha is- I stole this post idea from her!

My Latest Cards

Here's a few that I have made for various occasions recently:

This card and envelope are cuts from the Wild Card cartridge.  (Which I ADORE! Best Craigslist purchase EVER!)  I made this for a little girl's 3rd birthday party along with some felt hair bows.

Which are not cards, but I wanted to throw in anyway.  :o)

On this one, the envelope and liner is a Wild Card cut but the cut on the card is from my new Holiday Cakes cartridge.  Yes, cakes cartridges work on the Cricut Expression to cut paper!  I used these for my birthday thank you notes.

Design Source
This was a design I saw on Pinterest.  The link just took me to a photo so I don't know who to credit.  I loved it though and turned it into a birthday card for my mother-in-law.

Do you make cards or other crafts?  Do you ever use designs from the internet and/or Pinterest?  How do you credit your source?  I don't sell my cards, so I'm not profiting from someone else's design.  I wish I had more information because I definitely don't want to violate any copyright law!  I welcome your comments on this topic!

My major task right now is organizing the crafting desk so I only make cards as I need them instead of just creating whenever I want and adding them to my stash on hand.  That is why there are only three.  But, I still love to do it and am getting to create.  The slower pace has actually helped me to focus on what tools and supplies I really enjoy using to make cards and purging the rest.
